Domen Prevc started at the European Olympic Winter Youth Festival 2015 in Vorarlberg and Vaduz . He won the gold medal in the team competition with the Slovenian team and the silver medal one day later with second place in the individual competition.
Domen Prevc made his debut in the 2015/16 season on November 22, 2015 at the age of 16 in the team competition in Klingenthal in the World Cup and took second place with the Slovenian team. In the individual jumping on the large hill the following day, he reached eighth place and thus achieved World Cup points in his first competition. On December 19, 2015, he stood on a World Cup podium for the first time with his older brother Peter in Engelberg and finished second behind him. On February 6, 2016, Prevc won the team competition with the Slovenian team in Oslo and thus achieved his first World Cup victory. On February 23, 2016, Domen Prevc was second behind David Siegel in the individual jumping at the 2016 Junior World Championships in Râșnov and was world champion in the mixed competition.
On November 25, 2016, Domen Prevc won the World Cup jumping in Kuusamo and thus achieved his first individual World Cup victory. The following weekend he was also able to win the individual competition in Klingenthal .
Due to his previous season performances, Prevc was considered one of the favorites in the run-up to the Four Hills Tournament 2016/17 , but then only reached place 26 in the opening competition in Oberstdorf. By placing fifth, nine and four in the further course of the tour, he finished in the overall tournament ranking ninth with 908.8 points.
On March 17, 2019, he not only won a ski flying competition for the first time on Vikersundbakken , but also his first World Cup competition since December 2016.
Jump style
Domen Prevc is known for his agility, which allows him to jump in a very aggressive and risky style. When jumping he keeps the skis very flat and close to the body, the head is often lower than the ski tips.
Domen Prevc has two older brothers, Peter (* 1992) and Cene (* 1996), both also start as ski jumpers for Slovenia. His sister Nika Prevc (* 2005) also jumps, only the youngest sister Ema (* 2009) has not yet appeared as an athlete.
