The 66th Four Hills Tournament 2017/18 was a series of ski jumping competitions that took place as part of the Ski Jumping World Cup 2017/18 between December 29, 2017 and January 6, 2018. The tour was organized by the FIS . As every year, the competition venues were the ski jumps in Oberstdorf , Garmisch-Partenkirchen , Innsbruck and Bischofshofen . As with all World Cup competitions, there were also World Cup points for the four stages of the tour.

Defending champion Kamil Stoch won the tour again after he was victorious in all four competitions and thus repeated the success of Sven Hannawald , who was the first jumper to win all four competitions in 2001/02 .

innsbruck

AustriaAustria Bergiselschanze (HS130)
The qualification for the third competition in Innsbruck took place on January 3rd, 2018. The day before, the French team announced that their ski jumpers Jonathan Learoyd and Vincent Descombes Sevoie would no longer compete in the second half of the Four Hills Tournament. In the qualification, Gregor Deschwanden and Antti Aalto finished in 50th place with equal points. According to a rule that is only valid for KO jumping, the jumper with the higher starting number (Deschwanden) qualified for the competition on the following day. The US team, consisting of Michael Glasder , Kevin Bickner and William Rhoads , who wanted to take part in the tour from Innsbruck, had to cancel its start in the qualification at short notice because their luggage including skis was misdirected when arriving by plane.

The competition was held on January 4th, 2018. This was the third competition in a row to be won by Kamil Stoch , ahead of Daniel-André Tande and Andreas Wellinger . Richard Freitag , who had been Stoch's biggest competitor in second place in the overall standings up to Innsbruck, fell when landing his jump to 130 m in the first round and was taken to the hospital because of severe hip pain. After the fall, national coach Werner Schuster and Horst Hüttel , sporting director of the DSV, strongly criticized the technical delegate of the FIS, Geir Steinar Loeng , who, in view of the weather conditions, had again chosen too long a run-up length after Svenja Würth had already participated in the women's World Cup in Hinterzarten had fallen badly a few weeks earlier for the same reason. One day later, Friday announced in consultation with the German team doctor Mark Dorfmüller that he would not start in Bischofshofen.
