Vojtěch Štursa (born August 3, 1995 in Březina) is a Czech ski jumper . He starts for Dukla Liberec .
Career
Vojtěch Štursa's international career began in two competitions of the FIS Cup on January 8 and 9, 2010 in Harrachov , in which he finished 57th and 51st. Over the next few years, other participations followed regularly. His best placement in the FIS Cup so far was four fourth places in August 2011 in Szczyrk , twice in Zakopane in January 2015 and again in Zakopane in January 2018.
In February 2011, Štursa took part in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Liberec for the first time. Here he reached 31st place in the individual and seventh place in the team competition with the Czech youth team.
Furthermore, Štursa made his debut on January 29 and 30, 2011 in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup with his participation in two competitions in Bischofshofen , where he finished 56th and 60th. Since then, regular participations have also followed in the Continental Cup. His best result was a sixth place in Kuopio on August 21, 2016.
In December 2011 he finally made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup in Lillehammer . After he was able to qualify as 36th in the qualification for an individual competition for the first time on December 2nd, he finished this on the following day as penultimate in 49th place. At the end of February 2012, Štursa also took part for the first time in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Erzurum , Turkey , reaching 40th place in the individual and eleventh place in the team competition. A year later, in January 2013, he again took part in the 2013 Junior World Ski Championships in Liberec, where he improved to 16th place in the individual and ninth place in the team competition.
In February 2013, after successfully qualifying, his second participation in the Ski Jumping World Cup took place in Oberstdorf . After he could not qualify for the second round of the individual jumping on February 15 as 39th of the first round, he started two days later with the Czech team in the team competition and finished seventh. Further attempts to reach the final round of the World Cup and thus World Cup points failed.
A year later, Štursa took part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2014 in Val di Fiemme and reached 48th place in the individual and tenth place in the team competition. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty , Štursa finished 34th in the individual and ninth place in the team competition at the beginning of February 2015.
On September 11, 2016, with a third place in Tchaikovsky, he achieved his first podium finish in the Ski Jumping Grand Prix . In the overall ranking of the Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2016 , Štursa finished 23rd with 96 points. The following winter , on November 25, 2011 in Ruka , he managed to reach the finals in the World Cup for the first time and took his first World Cup point in 30th place. During the season he reached the final round several times and he also achieved two top ten placements. His best individual result was eighth place in Engelberg on December 18, 2016. He was also used four times in team competitions. With 88 points he finished the overall World Cup in 36th place.
In the 2017/18 season, Štursa was unable to match the previous year's performance. During the Summer Grand Prix , he failed several times in the qualification or he missed the final round in the competition. He only reached the top 30 in Tchaikovsky with 28th place. In the 2017/18 World Cup season he was again able to get World Cup points in Nizhny Tagil with 28th place. However, this was his only participation in the finals until the end of the season. At the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he was part of the five-man Czech squad and was nominated for two of three competitions. In the individual competition on the normal hill he failed as 53rd in the qualification and in the team competition on the large hill he missed the finals with the team in tenth place.
