Kento Sakuyama ( Japanese 作 山 憲 斗 , Sakuyama Kento ; born July 3, 1990 in Iiyama ) is a former Japanese ski jumper .
Career
Sakuyama played his first international jumping in the FIS Cup on March 5, 2007 in Zao. From the 2007/08 season he will regularly compete in the Continental Cup.
At the Junior World Championships in 2008 in Zakopane , Poland , he was able to achieve 5th place with the team. At the Junior World Championships in 2009 in Štrbské Pleso he was able to reach 25th place in jumping on the normal hill and 6th place in team jumping. Until 2008 he jumped for the commercial college Nakano ( 中 野 実 業 高校 , Nakano jitsugyō kōkō ).
As part of the FIS Team Tour 2009 he was accepted into the Japanese national team and jumped in the qualification for ski flying in Oberstdorf, but could not qualify for jumping as 50th. He had his first World Cup appearance a day later in the team competition on February 15, 2009 in Oberstdorf , where he reached 9th place with the Japanese team. His best individual result so far in a World Cup competition was achieved on January 16, 2010, when he finished 21st in Sapporo .
In 2015 he took overall victory in the Summer Grand Prix .
Sakuyama announced his retirement in June 2019.
