Friedrich Poppl

Friedrich Poppl (born March 1, 1923 in Soborten ; † September 5, 1982 in Wiesbaden ) was a German type designer and calligrapher.

biography

Poppl studied with Karlgeorg Hoefer , Hans Bohn and Herbert Post at the Werkkunstschule Offenbach . From 1955 to 1982 he taught in Wiesbaden. His fonts were published by H. Berthold AG , such as the Poppl-Antiqua . But it was only with the Poppl Pontifex that he achieved his international breakthrough. His estate is part of the Berlin calligraphy collection in the archive of the Academy of Arts .
