  1953/54

The 1st Four Hills Tournament in 1953 , officially the German-Austrian Springer Tournee , was a series of ski jumping competitions organized by the Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS) between January 1 and January 11, 1953 . The overall ranking was won by the Austrian Sepp Bradl ahead of the Norwegians Halvor Næs and Asgeir Dølplads . Toni Brutscher came fourth as the best German.

A total of 50 participants from six nations took part in the tour. The following 48 jumpers have achieved at least one day result:

In addition to Germans and Austrians, five Slovenes , four Swedes and three Norwegians and three Swiss took part in the jumpers' tour. Among the participants were four former world record holders in ski jumping (Sepp Bradl, Rudi Gehring, Franz Mair and Willi Gantschnigg), the ski jumping world champion of 1939 (Sepp Bradl) and a medalist at the Olympic Games (Kalle Holmström, bronze 1952).

The opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament took place on January 1, 1953 on the Great Olympic Hill (K 90) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . 30,000 spectators followed the New Year's competition , which the Norwegian Asgeir Dølplads won ahead of Sepp Bradl (Austria) and Toni Brutscher (Germany).

The second competition of the Four Hills Tournament took place on January 4, 1953 on the Schattenbergschanze (K 90) in Oberstdorf . The Norwegian Erling Kroken won the jumping ahead of Sepp Bradl (Austria) and Asgeir Dølplads (Norway).

The fourth competition of the Four Hills Tournament took place on January 11, 1953 on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze (K 90) in Bischofshofen . 12,000 to 15,000 spectators watched the jumping, which the Norwegian Halvor Næs won ahead of Sepp Bradl (Austria) and Harry Bergqvist (Sweden).
