Ski flying world record
This article deals with the development of the ski jumping or ski flying world record . The first official ski flying was held at the Kulm in Tauplitz in 1950 and recognized by the FIS as a special discipline of ski jumping. Before there was only "normal" ski jumping.
The Austrian Stefan Kraft made the longest jump ever on March 18, 2017 in Vikersund when he landed at 253.5 meters, shortly after the Norwegian Robert Johansson had already landed at 252 meters. In the qualification for ski flying on February 15, 2015, Dmitri Wassiljew even managed a flight to 254 meters, but could not stand it.
The German record is 248 meters, held by Markus Eisenbichler . Stefan Kraft holds the Austrian record with 253.5 meters and Simon Ammann the Swiss record with 243 meters.
However, the records are no longer officially recognized by the World Ski Federation FIS in order to prevent the athletes from competing for ever greater distances and more dangerous jumps.
Andreas Goldberger succeeded in the first flight over 200 meters, but he could not stop the flight and reached into the snow when landing. The following list only shows the jumps that have been made.
