Thomas Hörl (born August 20, 1981 in Saalfelden ) is a former Austrian ski jumper and today's ski jumping technician.
Career
At the age of 15, Hörl won the Alpine Cup in 1996. After Hörl won the bronze medal in team jumping at the Junior World Championships in Canmore in 1997 and was junior world champion in the same competition in 1999, he made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup in Bischofshofen on January 6, 2000 . On March 16, 2000, he set the ski flying distance record of 224.5 m in Planica as an almost unknown . Just two days later, Andreas Goldberger jumped 225 meters, which also set the new record for about three years. He finished his only World Cup season in 59th place in the overall World Cup standings. In the ski flying ranking he reached 29th place with the result of Planica. From January 2001, Hörl started in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup , but was never able to achieve greater success there. His best placement was a 14th place in Lauscha on January 25, 2002.
After the Continental Cup season 2002/03 , Hörl ended his active ski jumping career.
He is now a service man for the Norwegian ski jumpers.
