Nilo Zandanel (born November 8, 1937 in Cibiana di Cadore , † July 25, 2015 in Pieve di Cadore ) was an Italian ski jumper and Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Zandanel completed his first international tournament with the Four Hills Tournament in 1957/58 . Shortly after the tour, Zandanel won the silver at the Italian championships in ski jumping as well as the bronze medal in combination. A year earlier he had already won the silver medal in ski jumping. In 1959 Zandanel won gold in ski jumping. At the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , he jumped 36th place from the normal hill. After the games he was able to win the gold medal at the Italian Championships again. At the Four Hills Tournament in 1960/61 he was able to jump on the podium in Innsbruck for the only time in his career in an international competition and ended up third. In the overall tour ranking, Zandanel reached 7th place. At the Italian Championships in 1961 he won silver behind his compatriot Dino De Zordo . He finished the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1962 in Zakopane in 28th place when jumping from the normal hill. Two years later, Zandanel competed again at the Olympic Winter Games and reached 25th place on the large hill in Innsbruck. On the normal hill he was tied with Max Bolkart in 37th place. After the games he was able to win silver again at the Italian Championships. On February 16, 1964, Zandanel set a new ski flying world record with 144 m on the Heini-Klopfer ski-flying hill in Oberstdorf . In 1966 he won silver again at the Italian championship. In 1965 and 1967 he won gold.
