The jumping on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze will probably go down in the history of the tour because of the consistent implementation of the first round. Towards the end of the round there were bad weather conditions, as a result of which five jumpers from the top ten of the World Cup ranking did not make it to the second round. In the overall standings promisingly placed athletes like Gregor Schlierenzauer , Tom Hilde and Simon Ammann then fell far behind. The race management, represented by Walter Hofer , justified the implementation of the first round with the good results of the tour veteran Janne Ahonen , who, despite the difficult conditions, jumped to third place after the first round. The second round, however, went without any notable incidents.
