Toni Brutscher (born November 15, 1925 in Oberstdorf ; † November 16, 1983 there ) was a German ski jumper and musician.

Career

Brutscher was drafted into the war at the age of seventeen in 1943 and suffered a serious war injury in 1944 that almost ended his career prematurely. It was assumed that he would remain paralyzed, which Brutscher did not want to accept. In 1946 he jumped from the Schattenbergschanze again .

In 1949 Brutscher was involved in the construction of the ski jumping hill in Oberstdorf together with Heini Klopfer , Sepp Weiler and Max Bolkart .

In the same year Brutscher won the German championship for the first time, which he was able to repeat in 1955 . At the Olympic Games in Oslo in 1952 , he finished 4th. At the Four Hills Tournament in 1953 , after a third place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , a seventh place in Oberstdorf and Innsbruck and a 12th place in Bischofshofen, he was fourth overall. It was supposed to be the best ranking of the tour in his playing career. A year later at the Four Hills Tournament 1953/54 he was denied a podium place. In addition, he did not start in Innsbruck. The best individual results were two ninth places in Oberstdorf and Garmisch. Also in 1954/55 he had to admit defeat to strong competition. It was not until the Four Hills Tournament in 1955/56 that he was able to achieve significantly better results, at least at times. So he finished fifth in Oberstdorf.

Brutscher was qualified for the following Olympic Games in 1956 in Cortina d'Ampezzo , but could not take part due to an illness. In the Four Hills Tournament in 1956/57 Brutscher reached third place in Oberstdorf, but broke off the tour after rank 40 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. At the end of 1957 he started again in Oberstdorf, but did not get above rank 56. This was his last tour jumping.

Brutscher officially resigned in 1960 and ended his active career with a jump from the ski jumping hill in Oberstdorf in 1961.

Brutscher died one day after his 58th birthday after a serious illness in his home town of Oberstdorf.
