Kevin Bickner (born September 23, 1996 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American ski jumper .

Career

Bickner made his international debut on February 18, 2012 at the FIS Cup in Brattleboro , where he reached 26th place. Almost a year later, on February 9, 2013, he was used for the first time in the Continental Cup in Iron Mountain and jumped to 47th place. In the next few years, further appearances in the FIS and Continental Cup followed, but in the latter he was only rarely able to qualify for the second round.

At the Junior World Ski Championships 2014 in Val di Fiemme , Bickner jumped from the normal hill to 53rd place in the individual competition and reached 13th place in the team competition. A year later, at the Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty , he improved to 35th place in individual and 10th place in team jumping.

On March 6, 2015, Bickner was used in Lahti for the first time in the World Cup, but could not qualify for the first round. A day later he was twelfth in the team world cup competition with the US team.

At the US Ski Jumping Championships in 2015, he came second on both the large hill and the normal hill.

On December 5, 2015, Bickner reached the first round of a World Cup competition in Lillehammer for the first time. During the ski flying on February 14, 2016 in Vikersund , he jumped to 30th place and thus received his first World Cup points. In this jumping he also set his personal best of 214.5 meters. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râșnov , he finished eleventh in the individual and was twelfth with the US team in both the team and mixed team competition.

In the 2016/17 season , he got several points in the points. In February 2017 he took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti for the first time. He finished 47th in the individual on the normal hill and eighth in the mixed team competition. In the individual competition on the large hill, he reached the finals and took 30th place. In the team competition he was eleventh. At the World Cup ski flying at Vikersundbakken on March 19, 2017, he exceeded Alan Alborn 's US record from 2002 with a height of 244.5 meters .

On July 8, 2017, Bickner achieved his first podium place in the Continental Cup with third place in the competition of the Summer Continental Cup 2017/18 in Kranj . In the 2017/18 World Cup season, too , he jumped into the points several times, as in the previous season. At the Ski Flying World Championships 2018 in Oberstdorf , he finished 24th in the individual. In February 2018, he took part in the Winter Olympics for the first time in Pyeongchang . He started there in all three competitions. In the individual competition on the normal hill , he took 18th place and in the individual competition on the large hill, he took 20th place, making him the best American in each case. With the US team he was ninth on the large hill .

At the 2019 World Championships in Seefeld in Tirol , he finished 37th on the large hill and 48th on the normal hill in the individual competitions. With the US men's team he was eleventh and with the mixed team tenth.
