Alan Jacob Alborn (born December 13, 1980 in Anchorage , Alaska ) is a retired American ski jumper .

Career

From 2001 to 2017 he was the US record holder in ski flying with a flight of 221.5 m ( Planica , Slovenia). For many years Alborn was the most important ski jumper in the USA and a member of the national team for six years.

Alborn was already a participant in the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano at the age of 17 and took part in his second Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in 2002 .

In the World Cup , the 2001/02 season was his most successful with a 20th place overall. In March 2003, he had to resign due to ongoing knee problems and operations. Nevertheless, he started a comeback in the 2004/05 winter season , but was thrown back by a new knee injury. In the following years he was unable to build on previous successes and was constantly fighting to keep up. In 2006 he took part in his third Olympic Games in Turin . After the 2006/07 season , he finally ended his career.

He now works as an official FIS snow controller.
