The Ski Jumping World Cup 2004/05 (official sponsor name : e-on Ruhrgas FIS Ski Jumping World Cup 2004/05 ) was a series of competitions held by the FIS World Ski Association between November 26, 2004 and March 20, 2005 at 19 different locations in Europe and Asia Ski jumping . An individual competition had to be canceled, but could be rescheduled two days later, so that, as planned, 28 individual and three team competitions were included in the rating. Finnish defending champion Janne Ahonen won the overall standings, followed by Norwegian Roar Ljøkelsøy and Finn Matti Hautamäki in second and third place . The national ranking was won by the team from Austria , ahead of Finland and defending champion Norway .
At the beginning of the season, several changes to the regulations came into force. Some of these rules were tested for their practicality at the 2004 Summer Grand Prix . So that was hillsize as a comparison value for the size of jumps introduced. It indicates at how many meters the landing slope of a hill still has an incline of 32 degrees and thus a safe landing is still guaranteed. This should make it easier to estimate the actual size of a hill. The K point is still relevant for calculating the width points .
As of this season, jumpers who, including shoes and jumping suit, undercut a BMI value of 20 must jump with shortened skis. Furthermore, the maximum permitted neck size of the jump suits has been reduced to 50 cm. This is to prevent the formation of a load-bearing air cushion in the suit.
In ski flying competitions there will be only one qualification round for a whole weekend, usually consisting of two competitions, and in future 40 jumpers will compete in the first round after qualification and not as before.
