Robert Mateja (born October 5, 1974 in Zakopane ) is a former Polish ski jumper and today's ski jumping trainer.

Career

He lives in Chochołów and started for the club TS Wisła Zakopane . In 1992 Mateja started the World Cup in Falun for the first time and received World Cup points for the first time in 1996 in Lillehammer . His greatest individual success was the 5th place on the normal hill at the 1997 World Championships in Trondheim . At the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano , he finished 21st on the normal hill and 20th on the large hill. In 2002 in Salt Lake City he was able to reach 29th place on the large hill. In 2006 in Turin he was also part of the Polish squad and reached 25th place on the normal hill.

Mateja won three competitions in the Continental Cup. In the World Cup , he was able to achieve fifth place twice.

After the 2007/08 season , Mateja ended his career and became assistant coach of the Polish national team.
