Jaan Jüris (born June 23, 1977 in Valga ) is a former Estonian ski jumper and today's ski jumping trainer.

Career

Jüris made his international debut at the Ski Flying World Championships 2000 in Vikersund . A year later he entered the 2001 Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti . From winter 2001/02 he competed regularly in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup (COC), in January 2002 he finally made his debut in the World Cup in Zakopane , but could not reach the second round. A little later he also took part in the 2002 World Ski Flying Championships in Harrachov . In the period that followed, he returned to the COC and moved back to the World Cup in January 2003, after finishing fourth in a Continental Cup in Bischofshofen . With a 15th place in jumping on February 9, 2003 from the Mühlenkopfschanze in Willingen , he celebrated the best result of his career. A few weeks later he took part in the 2003 Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme . In the following season 2003/04 he took part continuously in the World Cup, but could not reach the second round in any jumping. Nevertheless, he took part in the 2004 World Ski Flying Championships held in Planica . The 2004/05 season was just as unsuccessful for him as the previous one. In 2005/06 he mostly did not qualify for World Cup competitions, but was able to take part in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . He took 50th place on the normal hill, but couldn't qualify on the large hill. After the Olympic Games, Juris has so far mostly unsuccessful in the COC.

After a six-month break, Jüris took part in his last two ski jumping competitions in Wisła as part of the Continental Cup on September 12 and 13, 2009 and finished 64th and 63rd. After the two competitions, he ended his career and is now as Ski jumping trainer active.
