Bader started alpine skiing at the age of two . He later switched to ski jumping and took part in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup (COC) for the first time in December 2001 . Already in his first season he was able to achieve a few placings in the top ten in the COC and on February 24, 2002 in Iron Mountain, he achieved his first podium finish in third place. In the 2002/03 season he was able to improve further and consistently occupy top places. On February 16, 2003 he was able to win his first COC jumping competition in Westby , followed by another victory two weeks later in Ishpeming . At the end of the season he finished 4th in the overall ranking of the Continental Cup.
In the summer of 2003 he first took part in the summer ski jumping of the COC and finally competed in a first-class competition for the first time at the Summer Grand Prix in Val di Fiemme . In the following winter of 2003/04 he started mainly in the Continental Cup, where he was able to occupy several podium places, but missed the second round in other competitions. In addition, he got some appearances in the World Cup , where he was able to achieve his first World Cup points on January 10, 2004 in Liberec with a 22nd place. In summer 2004 he switched back and forth between the Continental Cup and the Grand Prix and was able to win a COC competition in Lillehammer .
In the winter of 2004/05 he got significantly worse placements than before, because as a very light jumper he had problems adapting to the newly introduced weight rule. At the beginning of the season, he started in the Continental Cup, where he initially took places in the midfield and finally only finished behind. Nevertheless, it was used in some World Cups from mid-January. On February 6, 2005 he was able to celebrate the best result of his career in a jumping event influenced by snowfall and gusts of wind in Sapporo with fifth place, as he found ideal conditions in the first round because of his low starting number. In the remaining Continental Cups of the season, he was able to regularly place in the top twenty. At the 2005 Summer COCs, a 19th place in Lake Placid was his best result.
After he always missed the second round in the COC at the beginning of winter 2005/06, he did not take part in any further competitions. In 2006 he officially announced his retirement from active competitive sports. He stated that he had lost his enthusiasm for ski jumping mainly because of the changes in jumping style that resulted from the changes in the regulations in previous years. Since then he has studied sports science in Munich .
