Jan Mazoch (born September 5, 1985 in Čeladná ) is a former Czech ski jumper .
Career
Mazoch was ninth in the individual jumping at the Junior World Championships 2002 in Schonach in the Black Forest . At the Junior World Championships in 2003 in Sollefteå , Sweden , he won the individual bronze medal and was seventh with the Czech team. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Park City , he was twelfth with the Czech team on the large hill and finished 35th in the individual competitions (large hill ) and 36 (normal hill). He then finished 26th in the individual at the 2002 Ski Flying World Championships in Harrachov . He was a member of the Czech national team from 2003 after having competed in the 2002 World Cup in Falun, Sweden . He took part in the 2003 World Championships in Val di Fiemme when he was eighth on the large hill with the Czech team and in the individual competitions 44th (normal hill) and 48th (large hill), as well as in Oberstdorf in 2005 when he was seventh with the team (normal hill ) and eighth (large hill) and 28th of the normal hill in the individual. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , he was 36th on the normal hill. At the Ski Flying World Championships 2004 in Planica , Slovenia , he was ninth with the Czech team and 36th in the individual competition.
On January 20, 2007 Mazoch suffered a severe bruised skull while jumping at the World Cup in Zakopane . Because of the unpredictably strong wind he got overblown and fell. The competition was canceled after four more jumpers. Since therefore only the first round was counted, Mazoch achieved his best World Cup result with 15th place.
In September 2007 Mazoch made his comeback in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup , and in February 2008 he competed in a World Cup qualification for the first time in Liberec. He ended his career in August 2008.
Mazoch is a grandson of the former Czech Olympic ski jumping champion Jiří Raška . In June 2007, Mazoch had a daughter. His younger brother Jiří Mazoch is also a ski jumper.
