River course

The Río Ene arises at the confluence of the Río Mantaro and Río Apurímac at an altitude of about 460  m . The Río Ene flows in a predominantly northward direction through the Peruvian Andes. It separates the Central Cordillera from the Eastern Cordillera . At an altitude of 295  m , the Río Ene finally joins the Río Perené to the Río Tambo, which later forms the Río Ucayali , the right source river of the Amazon , together with the Río Urubamba .
