The region Junín [ xuˈnin ] (Spanish Región Junín , Wanka-Quechua Hunin shuyu , Southern Quechua Sunin suyu ) is a region in the central Peruvian Andes . 1,246,038 (2017 census) live in an area of 44,197 km 2 . As a result of the migration of many residents to Lima and other cities on the coast, the population of the Andean regions, including the Junín region, is falling.
The capital is Huancayo in the valley of the Mantaro .
geography
The region is very mountainous, the highest mountain is Pariacaca at 5768 meters .
