Concepción is the capital of the province of Concepción in the Junín region in the central Peruvian Andes . The city had 13,478 inhabitants at the 2017 census. Ten years earlier, the population was 11,682. It is the administrative seat of the Concepción district .

Concepción is located in central Peru in the Andean highlands on the left bank of the Río Mantaro, which flows to the southeast, at an altitude of 3283 m . After Huancayo in the southeast is about 50 km, located in the northwest Jauja with an airfield in 60 km.
history
The place was founded by the Spanish conquerors on December 8, 1537. Concepción played a role in the history of Peru when, on July 9 and 10, 1882, the deployed Chilean army suffered a serious setback near the Plaza de Armas. Concepcion has been implementing the guidelines of the Centro Ecoturistico de Protección for environmental protection since 2000 and is now a leader in the recovery of solid waste.
