The province of Concepción is centrally located in the administrative region of Junín in central Peru , 190 km east of the state capital Lima . The province is 3068 km². The provincial capital is the city of Concepción , 20 km north of the regional capital Huancayo .
Geographical location
The province of Concepción extends north of the city of Huancayo. It extends in the west to the foothills of the Western Cordillera . In the south are the provinces of Chupaca and Huancayo , in the north the province of Jauja . In addition to a tubular southwestern part of the province that extends over the Andes highlands, the province also has an area in the northeast that is about twice as large. This extends over the headwaters of the Río Tulumayo in the Central Cordillera and extends to the glaciated mountain range Cordillera Huaytapallana . In the northeast, the province of Concepción borders on the neighboring province of Satipo .
