The province of Chanchamayo is one of nine provinces in the Junín administrative region in central Peru . The province is 4723 km². The provincial capital is La Merced .
Geographical location
The province of Chanchamayo is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera . She is named after one of its major rivers, the Río Chanchamayo whose headwaters in the Andes - Sierra are and the northward flowing towards the Amazon lowlands and there, after the union with the Río Paucartambo to Perené River is.
