The province of Chupaca is located in the southwest of the administrative region Junín in central Peru , 190 km east of the state capital Lima . The province is 1153 km². The provincial capital is the city of Chupaca , 8 km west of the regional capital Huancayo .
Geographical location
The province of Chupaca extends from the outskirts of the city of Huancayo in the east to the foothills of the Western Cordillera in the west. Thus, the province lies in a hilly landscape in the Andean highlands . The Río Cunas , a right tributary of the Río Mantaro , flows through the province - initially in an easterly direction, later in a north and finally again in an easterly direction.
