The Vitoc district is located in the Chanchamayo province in the Junín administrative region in central Peru . The Vitoc district has an area of 313.85 km². The 2017 census counted 1,814 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 5145, in 2007 it was 2753. The administrative seat is the town of Vitoc on the Río Tulumayo .
Geographical location
The Vitoc district is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera . The Río Tulumayo flows through the west of the district in a northerly direction. Its right tributary, Río Shimayacu, forms the northern district boundary. The longitudinal extent in WNW-ESE direction is 45 km, the maximum width about 12 km. In the east, a mountain range runs along the district boundary with heights of over 4200 m . The main town Vitoc is about 10 km south of the city of San Ramón at an altitude of about 1000 m .
The Vitoc district borders on the San Ramón district in the north, the Chanchamayo , Perené and Pichanaqui districts in the north-east and the Satipo province in the south, and the Jauja province in the south .
