The Perené district (Spanish: Distrito de Perené ) is located in the province of Chanchamayo in the administrative region of Junín in central Peru . The Perené district has an area of ​​1526 km², a population of 52,874 inhabitants (as of 2017) and a population density of 34.65 inhabitants / km². The administrative seat is in the small town of Perené .

Geographical location

The Perené district stretches across the Peruvian Central Cordillera . The river Río Perené flows through the district in an easterly direction. In the far west is the small town of Perené, in the far east the district extends to the city limits of Pichanaqui .

The largest communities in the district are Perené with 6,733 inhabitants and Santa Rosa, suburb of Pichanaqui, with 21,054 inhabitants.
