District Captain

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The district captain or the district chief wife is in Austria head of a district administration . The district captain represents the district administration externally. All tasks that are assigned to the district authority as an authority lie with the district captain, who can delegate them further. Therefore, letters from the district authority are produced for the district captain. The authority is not the district captain, but the district authority itself. In this question, the district captain differs from the governor or the federal ministers , who are each the authority themselves.

In the event of a disaster, the district captain is the head of the district management team and thus the district's chief operations officer .

Since the district captain is a state employee, his appointment is the responsibility of the respective state government. Replacements are often made from the ranks of the district captain's deputy. A district captain must have completed a law degree as vocational training .

It was only in the 1990s that women reached these positions. In 1998, Elfriede Mayrhofer was appointed as the first district captain in Lower Austria .
