The Río Chanchamayo is the right source river of the Río Perené in central Peru , in the administrative region of Junín .

River course

The Río Chanchamayo arises near San Ramón at the confluence of the Río Tulumayo (right) and Río Tarma (left). It flows in a predominantly north-northeast direction through the Peruvian Central Cordillera . After 10 kilometers he passes the provincial capital La Merced on the left bank of the river . After a total of 24 kilometers of flowing, the Río Chanchamayo meets the Río Paucartambo coming from the north , with which it joins the Río Perené.
