River course

The Río Paucartambo has its origin in the 4160  m high mountain lake Laguna Aguascocha in the Peruvian Central Cordillera . At river kilometer 95 he passes the city of Paucartambo . The dam of the Yuncán hydropower plant is located at river kilometer 82 . The Río Huachón flows into the river from the left 6 kilometers downstream . 3 kilometers below the confluence of the Río Huachón is a weir on the Río Paucartambo. The Río Paucartambo flows in the middle reaches in an easterly direction through the mountains. At river kilometer 57, the Yaupi hydroelectric power station is on the right bank of the river. For the last 30 kilometers the river turns to the southeast, later to the south. The Río Paucartambo finally unites with the Río Chanchamayo to the Río Perené.
