The Yaupi hydroelectric power station (Spanish: Central Hidroeléctrica Yaupi ; alternative name: Paucartambo I ) is located on the Río Paucartambo in central Peru . The power plant is located in the Ulcumayo district of the Junín province in the Junín administrative region . In 2007, SN Power Perú took over the facility. Statkraft has been the operator of the facility since 2014 .
The Yaupi hydropower plant was completed in 1957 and has been in operation ever since. It is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera at an altitude of 1328 m near the settlement of Llaupi . The water is diverted from a weir ( ⊙ ) below the Yuncán hydropower plant, which is 15 km upstream, and fed to the power plant via an underground water pipe with a pressure pipe. The height of fall is 527 m, the volume of water removed is 26.6 m³ / s. The water is led into the river directly below the power plant.
The Yaupi hydropower plant has 5 horizontally aligned Pelton turbines . The total installed capacity is 108 MW. The annual energy production averages 782 GWh. There is a substation right next to the power station building.
