The district of San Luis de Shuaro is located in the province of Chanchamayo in the administrative region of Junín in central Peru . The district of San Luis de Shuaro has an area of 177 km². The 2017 census counted 4157 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 5912, in 2007 it was 6977. The administrative seat is San Luis de Shuaro , which is located on the Río Paucartambo and has 736 inhabitants (as of 2017) .
Geographical location
The district of San Luis de Shuaro is located in the Peruvian Central Cordillera . The lower reaches of the Río Paucartambo crosses the district in a southerly direction. The length of the district in SW-NE direction is 24 km. The district capital San Luis de Shuaro is connected by roads to the cities of Oxapampa and Villa Rica further north . To the south there is a road to Perené and La Merced .
The district of San Luis de Shuaro borders on the Perené district in the east, the Chanchamayo district in the south and the Oxapampa province ( Pasco region ) in the northwest .
