The region of La Libertad [ la liβeɾˈtað ] (Spanish Región La Libertad , Quechua La Libertad suyu ) is an administrative region in northwestern Peru . In 2015, 1,859,600 people lived in an area of 25,515 km². The capital is Trujillo .
geography
La Libertad is where the Moche River flows into the Pacific . There the Chimú people founded their capital Chan Chan ( mochica : "sun-sun") around 1300 .
La Libertad is the only region that has all three of the country's landscape types: coast, mountains and rainforest. The region has several sandy beaches to offer, including a. Huanchaco and Pacasmayo . Mountains predominate in the east.

The La Libertad region is divided into twelve provinces (these in turn into 83 districts).
history
According to archaeological research, the La Libertad region had been around since 1200 BC. Settled. Remains of the Cupisnique , Salinar, Virú , Mochica , Sican , Chachapoya and Chimú cultures were found.
