The Tumbes region [ ˈtumbes ] (Spanish Región Tumbes , Quechua Tunpis suyu ) is a region in northwestern Peru . 237,700 people live in an area of 4,657 km². The capital is Tumbes .
geography
The region borders the Pacific to the west, Ecuador to the north and east, and the Piura region to the south .
The landscape is flat. The main port cities are Zorritos and Puerto Pizarro .
