The Pacasmayo Province is located in the La Libertad region in northwestern Peru . The province was founded in 1821. It has an area of 1126.47 km². At the 2017 census, 102,897 people lived in the province. In 1993 the population was 78,927, in 2007 94,377. The administrative seat is the city of San Pedro de Lloc .
Geographical location
The Pacasmayo province is located about 80 km north-northwest of the city of Trujillo in the arid coastal region of Peru. It extends over an approximately 40 km wide stretch of coast on the Pacific coast in the northwest of the La Libertad region. The province extends up to 41 km inland. The Río Jequetepeque flows through the north of the province in a westerly direction. Inland the mountains of the Peruvian Western Cordillera rise .
The province of Pacasmayo borders in the north on the province of Chepén , in the northeast on the province Contumazá ( region Cajamarca ) and in the southeast on the Ascope .
Administrative division
The Pacasmayo Province is divided into the following five districts. The district of San Pedro de Lloc is the seat of the provincial administration.
