Michael "Mike" J. Glasder (born March 27, 1989 in Lake Forest , Illinois ) is an American ski jumper .
Career
Glasder made his international debut on February 14, 2004 in the Continental Cup while jumping in Westby , United States . After a 53rd place, he only started again in the Continental Cup on the same hill a year later.
At the Junior World Championships in 2005 he reached the Finnish Rovaniemi 52nd place and in the team event on the 11th place in the individual competition. A year later he started again at the Junior World Championships in 2006 in Kranj, Slovenia , and finished 40th in individual competitions and eighth in team jumping. Another season in the Continental Cup followed. At the Junior World Championships in 2007 in Tarvisio , Italy , he was only 60th in the individual competition and could not convince in the team competition with 14th place. At the Junior World Championships in 2009 in Štrbské Pleso , he surprisingly came 14th in the individual competition on the normal hill and in the team competition he reached tenth place with the team.
He completed his first jump in the World Cup in the US team on February 15, 2009 at the ski flying team competition as part of the FIS Team Tour 2009 in Oberstdorf . He reached tenth place with the team together with Anders Johnson , Nicholas Fairall and Christopher Lamb . On January 16, 2010, he qualified for a World Cup individual competition in Sapporo, Japan , but did not reach the second round with 48th place. At the Ski Flying World Championships 2010 in Planica he reached tenth place with the team after failing in the individual qualification. From 2009 to 2013 he achieved three podium finishes as third in the FIS Cup .
In February 2015 Glasder first took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, Sweden . He only started in the individual competition on the large hill, in which he finished 46th.
Glasder became the American normal hill champion in 2015.
He was reassigned to the World Cup squad for the 2015/16 season after his team-mate Nicholas Fairall continued to sit in a wheelchair after his fall in Bischofshofen . After he still missed the qualification in Klingenthal , he made it for the first time in Lillehammer , but was 43rd again without World Cup points in the competition. He also jumped in the qualifications of the Four Hills Tournament 2015/16 from the start, but was only able to qualify for the first time in Innsbruck . At the 2016 Ski Flying World Championships at Kulm , he finished 37th in the individual. On February 20, 2016, he won a Continental Cup for the first time on the Pine Mountain Jump in Iron Mountain .
On February 4, 2017, he achieved his first World Cup point on the Heini-Klopfer ski jumping hill in Oberstdorf as the 30th. He achieved his best World Cup result to date on February 12, 2017 as 29th on the Ōkurayama hill in Sapporo, Japan . At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , Finland , he finished 49th on the normal hill and 40th on the large hill in the individual competitions. With the US team, he was eighth in the mixed team competition and eleventh in the team competition on the large hill.
In the 2017/18 season Glasder could not get any further World Cup points. He didn't get past 35th place. At the Ski Flying World Championships 2018 in Oberstdorf , he finished 38th in the individual. In February 2018, he took part in the Winter Olympics for the first time in Pyeongchang , where he competed in all three competitions. He finished 32nd in the individual competition on the normal hill and 46th in the individual competition on the large hill . With the US team he was ninth on the large hill .
