On December 9, 2017, Pilch surprisingly won the Continental Cup competition in Whistler , British Columbia, when he only started for the fifth time . A week later, Pilch took his second victory on the large hill at Ruka . He was then used for the first time in the World Cup on January 4, 2018 in the third competition of the Four Hills Tournament 2017/18 , but missed the points as 42nd. At his third World Cup competition on January 28, 2018 at Wielka Krokiew in Zakopane , he jumped into the points for the first time as 30th. He was then nominated for the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2018 in Kandersteg , Switzerland , where he narrowly missed the medal ranks in individual jumping as fourth.
