Eetu Nousiainen (born April 29, 1997 in Kuopio ) is a Finnish ski jumper .

Career

Eetu Nousiainen was born in Kuopio and starts for the Puijo Ski Club . He made his debut on August 14 and 15, 2014 in two competitions in Kuopio in the FIS Cup , where he finished 46th and 34th. In another competition participation in the FIS Cup in Notodden the following December, Nousiainen achieved his first top 10 results with places seven and ten. Since then he has competed regularly in the FIS Cup. At the Junior World Championships 2015 in Almaty , Kazakhstan , he finished eighth with the Finnish team.

On December 11th and 12th, 2015, Nousiainen made his debut in the ski jumping Continental Cup in Rena, Norway , where he finished 52nd and 62nd. Since then, other competitions in the Continental Cup have regularly followed. At the Junior World Championships in 2016 in Râşnov , Romania , he was 29th in the individual competition and eighth with the team.

On January 28, 2017, Nousiainen won his first FIS Cup competition in Eau Claire , Wisconsin . At the 2017 Junior World Ski Championships in Park City , Utah , Nousiainen took 23rd place in the individual competition. In the team competition, he finished sixth together with Niko Kytösaho , Kalle Heikkinen and Andreas Alamommo .

In March 2017, Nousiainen made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup at Raw Air 2017 . He started instead of Janne Ahonen at the competitions in Trondheim and Vikersund , where he achieved his best result with a 30th place at the prologue in Trondheim. At the team competition in Vikersund he formed the Finnish team with Ville Larinto , Antti Aalto and Jarkko Määttä , with whom he was eliminated after the first round in tenth place. In the end, he finished 71st in the overall Raw Air ranking.

On April 2, 2017, Nousiainen won the gold medal at the 2017 Finnish Championships in Taivalkoski ahead of Ville Larinto and Antti Aalto .

On December 10th, 2017, he reached the second round of a World Cup competition for the first time while jumping on the Hochfirstschanze in Titisee-Neustadt and there, as 25th, his six first World Cup points. At the Ski Flying World Championships 2018 in Oberstdorf he was 35th in the individual and eighth in the team competition with the Finnish team. In February 2018, Nousiainen took part in the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . He was part of the five-man Finnish squad and was only nominated for the individual competition on the normal hill , which he finished in 49th place.

On August 19, 2018, he jumped to fourth place in the Continental Cup competition in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm in the Czech Republic , with which he achieved his best result so far in this series. At the 2019 World Championships in Seefeld in Tirol , he finished 42nd in the individual competitions on the normal hill and 48th on the large hill. With the Finnish men's team, he was tenth in team jumping.
