Alexei Wladimirowitsch Koroljow ( Russian Алексей Владимирович Королёв ; born June 20, 1987 in Alma-Ata , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Kazakh ski jumper of Russian origin.

Career

Koroljow, who started ski jumping at a young age, was accepted into the national team in 2004 and jumped in the Continental Cup for the first time on January 17, 2004 in Bischofshofen . However, he only reached the 77th place. There followed three years in the Continental Cup, in which he usually did not get past 50th place. On February 5, 2006, he was included for the first time in the line-up for a World Cup jumping and reached the 9th place with the team together with Nikolai Karpenko , Radik Schaparow and Iwan Karaulow in Willingen . Because of this result he was nominated for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . In team jumping he reached 12th place with the team. On March 19, 2009 he jumped his personal best with 190 m as part of the qualification for ski flying in Planica .

At the Kazakh Ski Jumping Championships 2009 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , Korolev won the silver medal on July 18, 2009. On February 6, 2010 he was able to achieve his first World Cup points with a 29th place in Willingen. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he was eliminated from jumping on the normal hill as 44th after the first round. At the end of the 2009/10 season he finished 82nd in the overall World Cup ranking with two World Cup points. At the Summer Continental Cup 2010 he did not win any points in any competition. His best individual result was a 31st place in his home town of Almaty.

After good results at FIS jumping in Almaty in January 2011 Koroljow was included in the squad for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo . There he clearly missed the qualification in both individual disciplines and was 10th and 12th in the team competitions with the team. In the summer of 2011 he remained unsuccessful until the ski jumping Grand Prix in Hinterzarten and often far behind the points. After the 27th place he was able to score again with a 25th place in Almaty, so that in the end he finished 68th place overall. After he again missed the qualification for the World Cup opener in Kuusamo and did not get beyond 11th place in the team competition with the team, Koroljow remained in the Continental Cup squad. After he did not score any points in this series either, he even started in the FIS Cup in January 2012 and even achieved a podium finish with third place in Szczyrk . At the World Cup jumping in February 2012, he failed in all individual competitions in the qualification.

At the Ski Flying World Championships 2012 in Vikersund , he was also unable to qualify in the individual and only reached 10th place with the team.

In the summer of 2012 as well as at the beginning of the 2012/13 season, he again failed to qualify in the World Cup. He couldn't win any points in the Continental Cup either. Koroljow surprisingly managed to qualify from the normal hill at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme , but was eliminated in the competition as 49th and penultimate after the first round. In the team competition, too, the team was eliminated as 12th and last after round one.
