Marat Bartyrbekowitsch Schaparow (born August 25, 1985 in Ridder ) is a Kazakh ski jumper .

Career

Schaparow started in Harrachov in December 2007 as part of the FIS Cup for the first time internationally. However, he remained without points. Even when he started again in Notodden two years later, he stayed in the rear. It wasn't until August 2010 in Örnsköldsvik that he made it into the points for the first time. Then in September he got a starting place in the B-team for the first time as part of the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . In his hometown of Almaty and a little later in Wisła , however, he remained without winning points. He also remained unsuccessful in the following alternating operations in the Continental and FIS Cups.

In July 2012, Schaparow was used for the first time in Wisła as part of the Ski Jumping Grand Prix and reached 11th place in team jumping with the team. As a result, he became a permanent member of the Kazakh squad in the Continental Cup. At the Kazakh Championships 2012 in Almaty, Schaparow was the master of the normal hill.

On March 17, 2013, when jumping in Nizhny Tagil, he made it into the points in this series for the first time as 16th. He then joined the A-team in July and was given a starting place at the Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2013 . In Hinterzarten he managed to qualify as 33rd, but was eliminated from the competition as 47th after the first round. After another 11th place in the team competition in Wisła, he remained without points in the other individual competitions. In Hakuba he narrowly missed the second round as 32nd.

For the 2013/14 season he got a place in the ski jumping World Cup . However, he clearly missed the first two qualifications in Klingenthal . Also in the team competition he could not convince with the Kazakh team as 14th. In Kuusamo he reached the individual competition for the first time and failed in the first round. In January he was again part of the team at the team competition in Zakopane and reached tenth place.

For the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , Schaparow was nominated as one of two Kazakhs by national coach Kairat Biekenow . He failed in both individual competitions in the qualification. In the summer of 2014, Schaparow reached three top 20 placements in the Continental Cup in Kuopio and Frenštát . At the following Grand Prix competition on his home hill in Almaty, he also won his first point in the second competition and thus finished the Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2014 in 80th place overall. Also for the new 2014/15 season Schaparov was part of the World Cup squad again. In the first competitions he consistently missed the qualification. Only in Nizhny Tagil did he make the leap into the competition, which he finished 52nd.

He achieved his greatest international successes at the Winter Asian Games 2017 in Sapporo , Japan , when he and the Kazakh team won the silver medal behind Japan and came third in the individual jumping on the large hill behind the Japanese Naoki Nakamura and Yūken Iwasa .
