Çelik graduated from the High Institute for Islam in Bursa. He then graduated from the Institute for Business Administration in Kocaeli. He was a high school teacher and for a time the owner and editor of a local newspaper. From 1999 to 2001 he was a member of the Virtue Party (MP) from the circle of the Islamist Milli Görüs movement.

Faruk Çelik is a founding member of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (Justice and Recovery Party, AKP). He was a member of parliament, initially for the Virtue Party, then for the AKP for the Bursa Province in the 21st, 22nd and 23rd legislative periods and for the Şanlıurfa Province in the 24th and 26th legislative periods of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey . From August 29, 2007 to May 4, 2009, Çelik was a member of the Second Cabinet of the AKP government under Erdoğan as Minister of Labor and Social Security, after which he was Minister of State for Religious Affairs and the Turkish World . From July 6, 2011 to August 28, 2015, he held the position of Minister for Labor and Social Security, first in the Erdoğan III cabinet , then in the Davutoğlu I cabinet . Faruk Çelik is married and has four children. His daughter Zeynep moved from the Acibadem Medical School in Istanbul to one of the best elite universities in Turkey, Hacettepe University . Its medical faculty only accepts the best thousand applicants in the exams, but Zeynep Çelik's result was too bad. The High Education Council, controlled by the AKP, only changed the applicants' statutes for this one year, which meant that Zeynep Çelik could be accepted.

Positions

Faruk Çelik, then Minister of State for Turks Abroad, called in May 2009 on the European states to respect immigrants' independent identities. “Assimilation” is a humiliation of the migrants. However, the immigrants should integrate and, for example, speak the German language as well as the Germans.
