Emrullah İşler

Emrullah İşler (born January 7, 1960 in Kuşcuören ) is a Turkish theologian and politician of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi (AKP). He is a member of the Turkish National Assembly and was Deputy Prime Minister under Recep Tayyip Erdoğan .

Life

Emrullah İşler was born in 1960 to Abdullah and Zeliha İşler in the village of Kuşcuören near Ankara. After graduating in Islamic Studies from King Saud University in Riyadh , he received a postgraduate degree in Koranic exegesis from Ankara University , where he also received his doctorate.

İşler then worked as a research assistant at Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi in Sivas , then as a professor for Arabic language at Gazi Üniversitesi in Ankara, where he was appointed full professor. He was also visiting professor at universities in Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia.

During the AKP's first term in office, İşler became a member of the party and, in 2011, a deputy for Ankara Province in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey . He became one of the Prime Minister's chief advisers: İşler was Erdoğan's translator for Arabic and one of his closest confidants.

On December 26, 2013, Emrullah İşler became Deputy Prime Minister as part of a cabinet reshuffle. With the election of Erdoğan as president and the subsequent cabinet reshuffle under the new Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu , İşler left office on August 29, 2014.

He is married and has three children.
