The 1st Lig 1995/96 was the 38th season of the highest Turkish league in men's football . It started on August 11, 1995 with the game İstanbulspor against Eskişehirspor and ended on May 19, 1996 with the 34th matchday. From December 25, 1995 to January 25, 1996 the season was interrupted by the winter break.

Turkish champion was Fenerbahçe Istanbul .

For the 1st Lig 1995/96, the three promoted teams from the last second division season have been added to the 15 clubs that remained from the previous season . The climbers were Karşıyaka SK , İstanbulspor and Eskişehirspor as the play-off winners of the 2nd Lig. While Eskişehirspor returned after seven years and İstanbulspor after 24 years, Karşıyaka SK managed to get up again immediately.
