Dalian Robert Atkinson (born March 21, 1968 in Shrewsbury , † August 15, 2016 in Telford ) was an English football player .
Life
Dalian Atkinson's first professional club was Ipswich Town , where he played from 1985 to 1989 and moved to Sheffield Wednesday for a transfer fee of £ 450,000 . After a year he moved to Spain to Real Sociedad San Sebastián for a transfer fee of 1.7 million GBP . He stayed there for only one year and went to Aston Villa and back to England for £ 1.6m in 1991 . In the newly established Premier League he scored the first goal for the club from Birmingham and scored the goal of the year in the game against Wimbledon FC .
After four years in Birmingham, he moved on to Fenerbahçe Istanbul , where he could not gain a foothold. Short-term loans and stints at clubs in Saudi Arabia and South Korea followed.
Atkinson died in August 2016 by a Taser -Use police after he allegedly choked his father.
