Mustafa Özer (born August 27, 1969 in Siirt ) is a former Turkish football player and coach. His younger brother Hasan Özer was also active as a professional football player and, like Mustafa, made it to the national team.

Player career

Özer began with the club football in the youth of the club of his home club, in that of Siirt Köy Hizmetleri YSE . In the summer of 1989 he was involved in the professional squad of this second division club and played nine games in his first season. In his second season for Siirt KH he won a regular place and drew attention to himself.

In the summer of 1992, Özer and his brother Hasan moved to the first division club Gaziantepspor . Here he quickly became the top performer of his team and played a major role in ensuring that his team ended the 1994/95 season in 7th place in the table. The Turkish national coach Fatih Terim became aware of his achievements and signed Özer to the Turkish national team and took part in a 30-day American training camp with the Turkish national team.

After this tournament, the Turkish top club Fenerbahçe Istanbul signed him . At this club Özer was hardly considered by the Brazilian coach Carlos Alberto Parreira . After he had completed only four competitive appearances for Fenerbahçe until the winter break, he was loaned to the league rivals Karşıyaka SK for the second half of the season.

In the summer of 1996 Özer returned to Fenerbahçe and was then given to the first division club Dardanelspor . Here he only played one season and then moved to Vanspor within the league . After a year for Vanspor Özer changed his club again and went to the second division side Elazığspor .

National team

Özer was during his time at Gaziantepspor from Turkey coach Fatih Terim under a thirty-day national game camps in North and South America in the squad of the Turkish national team nominated. Terim nominated not only experienced national players but also a number of newcomers for this international match camp. a. also Özer. After Özer had given his international match against the Canadian national team , he completed three more games during this national team game camp. After this camp he was no longer considered for the national team.

Coaching career

Following his footballing career, Özer switched to coaching and his first job was to look after his home club Siirtspor . He then worked for a variety of third and fourth division clubs.
