Siirtspor (officially: Siirt Spor Kulübü or Siirt SK for short ) is a football club from the Turkish city ​​of Siirt .

history

founding

The association was founded in 1969 as Siirt YSE and 20 years later it was renamed Siirt Köy Hizmetleri . In 1999 the name was changed to Siirt Jetpa SK , before the current name was introduced in 2002. For the 2000/01 season , the club made it to the Süper Lig , the highest league in Turkey, but rose again after the season.

Modern times

At the end of the 2000s and the beginning of the 2010s, the club ran into ever greater financial difficulties. The situation came to a head in the course of the 2013/14 fourth division season . During the first half of the season, the club struggled to cover travel expenses for the away games and were constantly sought out by creditors. So you couldn't travel to the away game against Fatih Karagümrük SK on the 18th matchday . The Turkish Football Association rated the game as a 3-0 defeat according to its rules and deducted an additional three points from the club. After these developments, the club's management announced that they would not play in the home game against Derince Belediyespor either. The club management also requested the withdrawal from league operations. After the club had not started the game against Derince Belediyespor, the regulations came into force, according to which teams that did not play two games within a season for no reason had to be automatically relegated. All of the club's remaining games were counted as a 3-0 defeat.
