Kemal Batmaz (born September 1, 1954 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.

Player career

Batmaz learned to play soccer in the youth department of Bursaspor . For the 1972/73 season he was added to the professional squad by head coach Tomislav Kaloperović and made his debut in the league game on April 29, 1973 against Boluspor . By the end of the season he completed two more league games for Bursaspor. In his second season he immediately prevailed as a regular player and played almost all of his club's competitive games by the end of the season.

This season Batmaz's team made it to the final of the Turkish Football Cup . In the final, the team lost to Fenerbahçe Istanbul . In the 1974/75 season Batmaz temporarily lost his regular place and completed 18 league games. Batmaz played until the summer of 1978 without achieving any notable success with his team. Only in the 1976/77 season he reached 6th place in the table with Bursaspor.

In the summer of 1977 Batmaz moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul within the first division . For this club he played for the next three seasons. In the first season he won a regular place. In the summer of 1979 he had to start his military service and was therefore not available to the team at times.

Beşiktaş started weak in the 1980/81 season and finished the first half of the season on the 13th and last non-relegation place. Batmaz played almost all of his club's competitive games until the winter break. The first game of the second half of the season had to play Batmaz 'team away against Eskişehirspor , another club in danger of relegation. In this game on January 3, 1981, Batmaz kicked a lying on the ground opponent and was sent off with a red card. Because of this, from the club's point of view, irresponsible approach, Batmaz 'received a fine of 100,000 Turkish Lira . Batmaz then stayed away from training sessions and received a warning from his club. Following this incident, Batmaz stayed away from the team until the end of the season and was then put on the sales list.

In the summer of 1981 Batmaz moved within the city to the second division club Üsküdar Anadolu 1908 SK . He played for this club for an indefinite period and then ended his career.

National team

Batmaz began his international career with a commitment for the Turkish U-18 national team. After four more games for the U-18s, he also played for the Turkish U-21 national team from 1974 . For this team he completed a total of three games.

After Batmaz had delivered a convincing performance in the 1975/75 season, he was nominated by the Turkish national coach Coşkun Özarı for the squad of the Turkish national team . After he had only sat on the bench in the World Cup qualifier against Ireland, he made his international debut in his second nomination against the USSR national team. By 1978 Batmaz completed seven more full internationals.

Coaching career

After the end of his playing career, Batmaz switched to coaching. From 1990 to 1999 he coached the Bursaspor youth team. He then worked at the clubs Bursaspor, Turgutluspor , Siirtspor and İnegölspor as head coach. After working as an assistant coach at Fatih Karagümrük SK in the 2004/05 season , he trained Bursa Merinosspor as head coach from 2005 to 2007 .
