Hasan Özer (born October 1, 1974 in Siirt ) is a former Turkish soccer player and today's coach. His older brother Mustafa Özer was also active as a professional footballer and, like Mustafa, made it to the national team.

Club career

Hasan Özer started his professional career in his home country at Siirtspor . After just one season, he made the jump to the Süper Lig . Gaziantepspor signed the young striker along with his older brother Mustafa . He made 16 appearances in his first season and scored six goals. For the 1995/96 season, Özer moved to Trabzonspor . In the 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons he was used regularly, but that changed in the 1997/98 season. After only eight league games in the first half of the season, he was loaned to Şekerspor until the end of the season .

At the end of the season the paths between Özer and Trabzonspor parted. He signed with Altay Izmir , where he played 54 games and scored 22 goals. Gaziantepspor brought their former striker back for the 2000/01 season. In 32 games Özer scored 18 goals and made it into the Turkish national soccer team with this performance. In the following season he switched to Çaykur Rizespor and Malatyaspor on loan. He spent the 2003/04 season entirely at Gaziantepspor. In his final season in Gaziantep, Özer was awarded to Akçaabat Sebatspor . Short engagements at Diyarbakırspor and Antalyaspor followed . In the latter, the promotion from the 2nd division to the Süper Lig succeeded.

After promotion, his contract was terminated and he signed with Elazığspor and retired in 2008 in the jersey of Altay Izmir .

National team

Hasan Özer made his debut for Turkey on March 28, 2001 in the World Cup qualifier against Macedonia. In total, he came to 5th international matches. He was not nominated for the squad for the 2002 World Cup .

Coaching career

A few months after the end of his career, Hasan Özer became chief trainer at Elazığspor . Despite a positive record of 7 wins and two draws in 13 games, the collaboration was ended on April 13, 2009. Özer has been Hikmet Karaman's assistant coach since the 2010/11 season . In addition to Karaman, he worked for Manisaspor , Gaziantepspor and Bursaspor .

On October 31, 2013 Ozer Suat Kaya replaced as the new head coach at Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor . After Özer and his club had slipped into the relegation area of the tables, he announced his resignation at the end of February 2014.
