Epping ( German Eppingen ) is a French commune with 570 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Sarreguemines and the canton of Bitche and is part of the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park .
geography
Epping is located in northern Lorraine ten kilometers northwest of Bitche and about two kilometers from the German-French border.
history
The community was mentioned as Eppingen in 1340 . In 1811 Urbach was united with Epping. From 1790 to 2014 the village belonged to the canton of Volmunster , which no longer exists , and since then to the canton of Bitche.
