Liederscheid ( German Liederscheid , Lothr. Liderschid ) is a French commune with 122 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Sarreguemines and the Canton of Bitche . The inhabitants call themselves Liedeschlois .
geography
The municipality of Lied Various is located in the extreme northeast of France, on the border with the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate . The immediate German neighboring municipality is Schweix in the district of Südwestpfalz . The municipality of Lied Various is part of the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park and the Palatinate Forest-Northern Vosges Biosphere Reserve .
history
The village was first mentioned in 1313 in a document from the Sturzelbronn Abbey . The place name is made up of two parts. On the one hand from the personal name Leudo and on the other hand from the old German term for forest, sheath . This term could also indicate a watershed, since the place is located on a ridge. The name Leudo changed via Liuthar to Lieder, so it has no relation to singing. From 1790 to 1802 Liediffert belonged to the canton of Breidenbach , then to Volmunster , until it was finally added to the canton of Bitche in 1834.

Education and Social
Since 1995 Lied Various has had the first (and so far only) Franco-German kindergarten . The specialty is the bilingual upbringing of the children, combining both systems of the German kindergarten and the French École Maternelle . This is intended to create a better mutual understanding of both cultures and language directions. The model project was initiated and continued jointly by the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the French region of Lorraine. The children come from the French communities Liederkliedt, Haspelschiedt and Roppeviller and from the German communities Schweix and Hilst .
