history
Although villas and objects were found from the Gallo-Roman period, Petit-Réderching was first mentioned as Klein-Riderchingen relatively late, in 1575 . The settlement was built on the Altstrasse between Mainz and Metz, known as Königstrasse . While many villages were destroyed after the Thirty Years' War , Petit-Réderching experienced an upswing as glassmakers settled here. The district of Meyerhof has existed since the 18th century, but developed mainly after the construction of the railway line from 1869.
From 1790 to 2015, Petit-Réderching belonged to the canton of Rohrbach-lès-Bitche , which no longer existed , with a brief interruption at the beginning of the 19th century when the place was assigned to Volmunster . It has been part of the canton of Bitche since 2015. Petit-Réderching has a municipal administration which is manned daily.
